Response to Gender Synergy

DONATION TOWARDS FIGHTING GENDER BASED VIOLENCE
The Rainbow Circle Organisation (RCO) has been most fortunate in that for a number of years it has received unstinting support from Uthungulu Community Foundation of Richards Bay. As recently as a week ago the Foundation presented the RCO with two laptops computers which were vitally necessary for the organisation to function more efficiently and effectively.
The Rainbow Cycle Organisation (ROC) is a non-governmental organisation established in 2003 in Eshowe by Mrs. Peggy Strachan primarily to attempt to deal with the ever-increasing incidence of violence committed against women and children. A large part of the RCO’s work is rural community-based education on gender-based violence/domestic violence, crime and other social ills against the most vulnerable sector.
“The Foundation’s interest and concern towards the fight against the scourge gender-based violence has created a relationship with RCO which allows a deeper understanding of the high levels of GBV cases within Umlalazi Municipality and South Africa as a nation. Rainbow Circle has been most fortunate in that for a number of years it has received the unstinting support, financially and materially from Uthungulu Community Foundation. “We hereby call other stakeholders and individuals with the like mission driven organisations like RCO to come together and join forces for us to win this war of GBV,” says Mr Simphiwe Mbatha, CEO of Uthungulu Community Foundation.
“On behalf of RCO and the communities we are serving we would like to thank UCF for the continued support they have given us over the years. Yes, there are some challenges that confront us on daily bases such as the establishment of a shelter for domestic abuse cases,” says Peggy Strachan, Rainbow Cycle Organisation Director.
